Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
Dear Parent / Carer ,
We have been informed that a number of children who attend Belmont Preschool & Barming Primary School have been diagnosed with suspected scarlet fever. We have taken advice from the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) and would like to give you some more information about these infections.
Scarlet fever
Scarlet fever is also a mild childhood illness but unlike chickenpox, it requires antibiotic treatment. Symptoms include a sore throat, headache, fever, nausea and vomiting, followed by a fine red rash which typically first appears on the chest and stomach, rapidly spreading to other parts of the body. On more darkly-pigmented skin, the scarlet rash may be harder to spot, but it should feel like 'sandpaper'. The face can be flushed red but pale around the mouth. As the rash fades the skin on the fingertips, toes and groin area can peel.
If you think you, or your child, have scarlet fever:
• See your GP or contact NHS 111 as soon as possible
• Make sure that you/your child takes the full course of any antibiotics prescribed by the doctor.
• Stay at home, away from nursery, school or work for at least 24 hours after starting the antibiotic treatment, to avoid spreading the infection
Complications
Children who have had chickenpox recently are more likely to develop more serious infection during an outbreak of scarlet fever and so parents should remain vigilant for symptoms such as a persistent high fever, cellulitis (skin infection) and joint paint or swelling. If you are concerned for any reason please seek medical assistance immediately.
If your child has an underlying condition which affects their immune system, you should contact your GP or hospital doctor to discuss whether any additional measures are needed.
You can find more information on scarlet fever on the attached factsheet and on NHS choices: www.nhs.uk
Yours sincerely,
The Barming Primary School Team

Dear Parents,
Key Stage One Christmas Production: “Bethlehem Bake Off”
We are very excited to be able to invite you to come and watch our Christmas Production of ‘Bethlehem Bake Off’.
The performances will be at the following times.
Friday 9th December at 9:30am
Friday 9th December at 2:00pm
As usual we expect these performances to be very popular and so we must once again limit the total number of seats to two per family. We will not be actually issuing tickets and we are not able to accommodate babies or toddlers.
To reserve your 1 or 2 places, please head to ParentMail>Payments>Shop and make your booking this way. The tickets are completely free so please don't worry, it was just the best way for us to ensure that tickets numbers are limited.
The booking item will expire 2 days before the production date so please act fast to secure your places.
Unfortunately, to ensure the fairness, if we notice that parents have booked for both performances, one performance booking will have to be cancelled to free up spaces for other parents.
We do not encourage recording or taking photographs of the production by parents as this can be disruptive for the children while they are performing. We will however, provide time at the end of the play for you to take photographs of your child. Please remember that these photographs are for your own use and must not be shared on social media.
A separate message will follow at a later date, regarding ordering a USB of the Production.
Yours sincerely,
Mrs Murray
KS1 Leader
Dear Parents/Carers,
The following message was received by the NHS today:
This is a reminder to parents to submit a consent or decline for the Flu Immunisation Programme via the School Aged Immunisation Service’s website https://www.kentcht.nhs.uk/imms
The vaccination will be taking place in school on 30/11/2022.
Please note that the portal for giving this permission will close on 21/11/2022. This process is administered by the NHS, therefore if you miss this deadline we're afraid we will be unable to intervene on your behalf.
Kind Regards
The Barming Primary School Team
Dear Parents/Carers
I am really excited to let you know the BOOK FAIR IS BACK!
You will have opportunity to browse the range of children's books and purchase directly from the after-school book fairs. The book fair will take place directly after school on both Friday 25th November and Monday 28th November. There will be a good selection of books for you to look through and some fantastic bargains to be had so why not come along and see if you can grab yourself a Christmas bargain or two! Payments can be made with cash or with online card payments.
I'm attaching an invitation which has details of a selection of the titles that will be available to you.
I hope to see lots of you at the book fair on Friday 25th or Monday 28th November. No need to book - just turn up!
Thank you for your ongoing support. Any purchases made help raise funds for the school that we can spend on even more exciting books for your children to enjoy.
Kind regards
Mrs Armstrong

Dear Parents/Carers,
As you are all aware this week is Parent evenings – Tuesday 8th and Thursday 10th November. We are going to continue with the same setup that we have used for the last few parents' evenings. One year group classroom will act as the waiting room, while the other year group classroom will act as the meeting room. Please see below for more details:
Signs will be placed in order to help you navigate to the correct location, but if you are unsure, please head to the main entrance where someone will point you in the right direction. Each parent meeting slot is a maximum of 10 minutes, if you find this is not long enough, please contact the class teacher via ClassDojo, to arrange a follow up.
Kind regards Mr Laker |
