Term 6
2021/2022
Topic Title: Canterbury Now and Then
This term we are returning to History and we will be using primary and secondary sources to find out about the past in Canterbury. We will be looking at the Cathedral and specifically Thomas Beckett and how he has made Canterbury a place of Pilgrimage. We will also be looking at the impact of the Blitz.
English
We will start by sharing the book ‘Pigs Might Fly’ by Jonathan Emmett, before working on describing characters and then creating our own version of the story, with repetitive phrases. This will be followed by us creating our own ‘Funnybone’ tales using poetic and descriptive language.
Maths
We will start the term by reading analogue time and making our own clocks, which we will then use to support our learning. Following on from this we will be consolidating our knowledge of number bonds to 10, 20 and 100. We will also be securing fluency in addition and subtraction facts and multiplication and division.
P.E
Children will be learning tennis skills this term on a Tuesday.
