The children are introduced to a new spelling pattern or rule each week and complete different activities daily throughout the week based on the spelling rule taught. The children are assessed on completion of either two or three units. Spellings for the term are shared with you on class pages and WEDUC.
Where identified, some children may be accessing spellings from previous year groups to help build their confidence and knowledge of different spelling rules.
For children in EYFS, Years 1 and 2 who are following Read Write Inc Phonics , their spellings are taught within their phonic session. For those children in Year 2 who have completed Read Write Inc Phonics, they are following Read Write Inc Spelling within their English lessons.
