  • Half Term Challenges

    Thu 20 Oct 2022

    Dear Parents or Carers,

    Happy Half Term Holiday!

As a school, we thought it would be nice to send home a small challenge for the holidays. Within each Key Stage - EYFS, Key Stage One, Lower Key Stage Two and Upper Key Stage Two. These challenges are not designed to be onerous but rather fun. Some of the tasks involve working with you as a family while others are more independent.

There is no expectation that the children will complete all of the tasks but we feel they are challenges that help to develop different skills.

Any challenges you complete can be marked on the sheets that have been sent home with the children (copies are attached for any that go missing on the way home). Any pictures you take can be sent via ClassDojo to celebrate their achievements.

We hope you have a lovely holiday.

  • Measles, Chicken Pox and Shingles

    Tue 18 Oct 2022

    Dear Parents/Carers,

    Measles, Chicken Pox and Shingles

Some of you will already be aware, but for those you who are not; one of our pupils is receiving medical treatment for cancer. This puts the pupil at serious risk if exposed to measles, chicken pox or shingles. The best way to protect a pupil from measles is for all pupils to be immunised against measles. Please discuss measles immunisation with your GP if your child is not already vaccinated. If you suspect your child has measles you should let the school know immediately.

Our pupil is also at risk from chicken pox and would need to be given oral medication after coming in contact with anyone with the infection. Please let us know immediately if you suspect that your child has chicken pox. It is also very important that you let us know if anyone in your household has shingles. Your own child is not at any risk whatsoever from this situation. However, the health and wellbeing of our pupil with cancer may be at serious risk.

Therefore, we are asking all our families to support us with this request and asking you to cooperate by informing the school if your child has measles, chicken pox and/or if someone in your household has shingles. We know we can rely on your help and thank you for your support.

    Many thanks.

    Yours sincerely,

    Mr C Laker, Headteacher

  • KAMT Term 2 Booking

    Tue 18 Oct 2022

Please note that Monday 31st October is an INSET day and the school will be closed, therefore there will be no KAMT class that day.

  • Attendance and Punctuality

    Tue 11 Oct 2022

    Dear Parents/Carers,

We are seeing an increase in children coming into school late in the mornings. The gates open at 8.35am and by 8.50am the children should be in class and registered. During this time, each class has a dedicated well-being time, for children to read, colour and chat to their friends and teachers etc. This is to help the children settle and be ready for the start of the day's learning. We are finding this works very well for those children who are here in plenty of time. Rushing in late, missing this time, and possibly missing instructions from the teacher about the first lesson, is not a good start to the day. We understand there are sometimes circumstances beyond our control that affect punctuality, such as road closures or bus strikes, but we do ask that you endeavour to arrive by 8.50am to make sure all the children have a great start to their day.

Please could we also remind you that the school must be informed on each day of any absences via one of the following methods:

    • StudyBugs app

    • Email to office@barming.kent.sch.uk

    • Telephone the school office and leave a message or voicemail

Any absences that we are not made aware of will be marked as "Unauthorised".

If you are experiencing any difficulties regarding punctuality and attendance, and would like support, please contact Mrs Darby.

    Thank you for your support.

  • Wraparound Care - Voucher Bookings for Term 2

    Mon 03 Oct 2022

    Dear Parents/Carers,

If you pay for your child to attend either Breakfast and/or After School Club and use a Childcare Voucher Scheme, the office will be taking your bookings for Term 2 only on or before Thursday 20th October 2022, bookings will not be able to be made if submitted after this date. We ask that all bookings are made via email (office@barming.kent.sch.uk) at any time beforehand with your requirements.

Once the office has received your booking requirements, you will be issued with an invoice. We kindly ask that you wait until you receive your invoice before booking your childcare vouchers to ensure that only the amount on the invoice is requested and so that the finance team at Allington can reconcile invoices and vouchers easily and correctly.

Please could you include your Childcare Voucher Scheme Membership Number or Voucher Number within your booking email where possible so that the finance team can marry up the Wraparound Care bookings with the Childcare Voucher Invoice payment they receive.

    Kind Regards,

    The Barming Primary School Team
