Children should wear black shoes or sandals (not boots). Open toed or sling-backed sandals are not safe to be worn within the school environment. Training shoes, while acceptable for sporting activities, should not be worn as normal footwear to and from school. Wellington boots should be clearly marked on each boot and a clothes peg bearing the name of the child should be brought into school to keep the boots together in the cloakroom. Your co-operation in this will help to minimise the problems caused by almost 400 plus pairs of similar Wellington boots which are in school on snowy days!

All long hair must be tied back.  Children are permitted to wear hair clips but they must be plain, small and in the school colours.

Like the vast majority of primary schools our cloakroom areas are very small. Bringing large sports' bags into school is unnecessary and such bags take up a large space on a peg which is possibly only a few centimetres away from the neighbour's peg. Bags on the floor in restricted areas such as corridors provide a hazard which has Health and Safety implications. Book bags are available from our uniform supplier, and these take up much less space. Children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are only allowed a Book Bag due to space. Thank you for your understanding.

Clothing Required for Physical Education:

Children will come to school wearing their PE kits ready on the days they have PE and will wear this all day.

P.E kit needs to be as follows:

  • Navy blue or black Shorts.
  • Navy blue or black tracksuits (leggings are appropriate – navy blue/black)
  • Coloured T-shirt which matches your child’s House colour (houses listed below):

Houses:

Bermelie (red)

Oaken Wood (green)

Kettle Bridge (blue)

St Margaret (yellow)

  • White soled trainers, so that they do not mark the school hall.   No plimsolls needed.   When P.E. is carried out in the hall, children will either do this in bare feet or in trainers

NB: No P.E. uniform should have logos or be of any other colour, except the colours mentioned above.   Thank you.   Inappropriate P.E. uniform will be challenged by the class teacher.  Earrings must not be worn on the day they have PE, unless they can be removed by the child.  Staff are not permitted to remove earrings.

If any parents have spare P.E. uniform that is no longer required, please donate it to the school.   Thank you.
