    Dear Parents/Carers,

Don't forget that due to the children having their School Photographs taken on Friday 2nd October 2020, all children are required to be in Full School Uniform and not PE Kits on that day.

  • School Census Day - Thursday 1st October

    Thu 24 Sep 2020

    Dear Parents/Carers,

As you know, school budgets are increasingly in the news and are getting tighter year on year but did you know that you can help us?

Thursday 1st October 2020 is School Census Day and the government give us money for each child that has a school meal on this day!

Even better news, is that we will be able to do a HOT MEAL on this day! All you have to do is log in to your ParentMail App and book and pay for your child's meal in advance where possible (don't worry if you forget, they can still choose on the day and ParentMail will give you a little nudge to pay).

And even better news than that, is that for all EYFS and Key Stage 1 children (Year R, 1 and 2), it is completely FREE! Of course we would also love to see the children in the other years try a hot meal, the cost to you will be £2.25 per child.

A menu is attached to this email for you to look at. Yummy!

    Kind Regards,

  • Inclement Weather - Coats

    Tue 22 Sep 2020

    Dear Parents/Carers,

We have been very lucky with the weather but the weather is now unfortunately about to turn. The rain is coming....

Mr Moon and Mr Beale have been very busy organising our cloakroom space to keep our bubbles separate.

Children may bring a coat from tomorrow should it start to rain. This will need to be named please.

    Kind Regards

  • Children's Anxiety

    Tue 22 Sep 2020

    Dear Parents/Carers,

We hope that your child/ren have returned to school happily and are feeling settled.  Unfortunately, it has become clear that many children have been struggling with anxiety at the beginning of this first term.

Due to many children being off school for so many months, and with all the uncertainty around at the moment, this is a normal reaction. It may take some of the children a bit of time to adjust to being away from parents and being back in school full time.

As parents, we have our own anxieties and worries about the pandemic, which again is to be expected.

We would like to suggest a few things to help minimise any worries your child may be experiencing.

Firstly, try to shield your children from your own anxieties, and perhaps make sure they don’t see/hear the news too often, if at all. Try to discuss your own anxieties out of ear shot of your children. Children can be very sensitive to atmospheres, even if they don’t understand all the words.

If your child wants to express their anxieties, let them do this, but not all the time. Choose a quiet time of day when you can have a chat, then agree to not talk about them again until tomorrow. Worries can be ‘packed away in a box’, and brought out in a controlled way, so that you are managing them, and they are not controlling you and your family.

Make a ‘gratitude list’ with your child – think of all the good things you can be thankful for.

Practise positive reflection – at the end of the day and in the morning, turn negative conversations into positive ones, ‘tell me something good about today’, it might only be eating lunch or playing, but focus on this.

Teach your child some simple coping strategies –breathing techniques if panicking, counting to 10 slowly and looking around for things to focus on (look at that lovely autumn tree….)

    Here are some useful websites:

Attached are some resources you can use at home too.

Remember being anxious is natural and everyone feels it to some degree, but we can learn to manage it.

Please do speak to us if you would like any further advice.

  • Drop-Off and Pick-Up

    Wed 02 Sep 2020

    Dear Parents/Carers,

It was lovely to see all of the children returning to Barming Primary School today, it was nice to have the buzz back.  Thank you for working with us during drop-off and pick-up, putting your child's safety first.  In order to ensure that this runs more smoothly tomorrow, please may we ask that you stand inside your zoned area (Year 2 zone will be made bigger and Year 5 & 6 parents please stand on the large playground).   It is really important for everyone's safety that you remember to socially distance (we do know that you have all missed each other though) and stick to your Year group timings which are:  Year 1 & 2 - 3.10pm, Year 3 & 4 - 3.20pm, Year 5 & 6 - 3.25pm.   If you have siblings, please ensure you promptly move to the next pick-up zone.  We would like to thank you again for working with us as I'm sure you can appreciate that this was new for all of us today.

    Kind Regards,
