Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
Dear Parents, Carers and Children,
I write to introduce myself as the Executive Headteacher for the Orchard Academy Trust, of which Allington and Barming Primary Schools are a part of. Many of you will be aware I have been appointed to this role, following the retirement of Mrs Young in July. I am very excited to start my new role, after 17 very rewarding years as a Headteacher at my previous school. Whilst this job is very new to me, being an integral part of primary schools is not, having started my teaching career in 1995! As a mother myself, I am very aware of the importance of your child's time in Pre-School/Primary School and am committed to supporting Mrs Howson and Mr Laker in ensuring your child's time with us is a happy one. Children come to school to learn, however there are a huge number of factors that need to happen to make this possible. As a Trust, we know and understand that the well-being of your children and our staff is essential in making schools happy, exciting and wonderful places to be. Over the coming months, I look forward to getting to know both schools, their staff, pupils and families. Whilst you may not always see me, please know I will be working very hard to ensure the Orchard Academy Trust is developing as a trust where 'we inspire our children to thrive and lead fulfilling lives'. Wishing your children, a very happy school year ahead.
Kind regards
Mrs Ashley Crittenden Executive Headteacher Orchard Academy Trust www.orchardacademytrust.co.uk

Dear Parents/Carers,
In line with our existing school policy (therefore this is not a change), we are unfortunately unable to administer any painkillers (calpol, nurofen etc.) to your child on your behalf. If they require painkillers for a pre-existing injury, you are welcome to come in and administer this yourself if you feel they need it. If they require it throughout the day for an illness, we ask you to consider whether they are well enough to be attending school.
If your child has been prescribed antibiotics, we are able to administer 1 dose per day if they are on a 4x daily dose, provided you have completed the relevant paperwork at the office. If they are to take the antibiotics 3x a day, we ask that you administer the doses yourselves around the school day (ie. before school, after school, before bed).
We thank you for your help with this.
Kind Regards,
The Barming Primary School Team
The Mayor of Maidstone Visit - Tuesday 2nd May 2023
We were really lucky to have a visit from the ‘Mayor of Maidstone’ today. He came into our assembly with Councillor Mrs Fay Gooch. He told us all about his job and what he does. Mrs Gooch then explained that our wonderful Barming Parish Council had organised for our children to have a special mug commemorating the new King’s coronation. The Mayor finished by visiting our EYFS and Pre-School children who really liked his shiny gold chain!
We found out facts such as:
We had a really lovely afternoon and would like to thank the Mayor and Mrs Fay Gooch for their visit!
