  • Arrival at School in the Mornings

    Tue 04 May 2021

    Good Morning,

We hope you all had a lovely Bank Holiday :-)

Just a little reminder that all children (including Reception children) need to be in their classroom ready to learn by 8.50am. After 8.50am, I am afraid your child is late.

    Pick Up Time Reminder:

    Reception: 3pm

    Year 1 and 2: 3.10pm

    Year 3 to Year 6: 3:15pm

    Kind Regards

  • Kent Messenger - My Dad

    Fri 30 Apr 2021
  • Changes to Drop Off and Pick Up Times

    Tue 27 Apr 2021

    Dear Parents/Carers,

It is really important that all children arrive on the school site by 8:50am (not at or after 8:50am).

The benefits to your child arriving at school on time are:

    1. It sets them up to have a successful day, rather than starting it on the back foot.
    2. They arrive with the rest of their classmates which avoids the embarrassment of walking into the classroom late, when all their peers are ready to work or have started work.
    3. Arriving on time is an invaluable skill and means you will rarely be late for work later on in life.

As of Tuesday 4th May, all children in KS1 (Years 1 and 2) and KS2 (Years 3 to 6) need to arrive at school between 8:35am and no later than 8:50am.   Children in Year R need to arrive at school between 8:40am and 8:50am.   Year R children can now enter via the small blue gate, through the double gates (for everyone else, except for Year R, only the timings have changed – everything else remains the same.   It is time to start getting ourselves back to ‘normal’!).   Any child arriving after 8:50am, will now need to enter school by the main entrance – they will no longer be permitted to enter the building via their Year group door.

Children arriving after 8:50am will be marked as ‘Late, code L – Late: arrived before registration closed’ and any child arriving after 9:00am will be marked as ‘Late, code U – arrived after registration closed’.   Registration will close promptly at 9:00am.

If your child is persistently late without a valid excuse or a pre-agreed reason with the school, it could lead to further action being taken and the involvement of the Kent County Council Attendance and Punctuality Team.   Discussions will be held with the parents in order to ascertain whether or not the school can support the family further.   If attendance/punctuality does not improve, a Penalty Notice could be applied if it is deemed necessary.

We do acknowledge that lateness cannot always be avoided and traffic/accidents etc. cannot be helped.   If this is the case, please inform us as soon as possible or on arrival.   Thank you.

Please support your child’s education and well-being by getting them into school on time.   Thank you to all those families who regularly get their children to school on time – we very much appreciate it.

    Pick Up times:

As of Tuesday 4th May, pick up times are as follows:

    Year R:   3:00pm

    Years 1 and 2:   3:10pm

    Years 3 to 6:   3:15pm

Please be on time to collect your child/ren.   If you are going to be late for an unforeseen reason, please inform the office by 3:00pm or book your child into ‘After School Club’.   Thank you.

    Kind Regards,

    The Barming Primary School Team

  • Reading Recruits

    Tue 20 Apr 2021

We have sent out to all parents, a flyer asking for help to hear our children read. We know that some parents have offered to hear our readers previously and we would like to know if you are still interested in doing so and what your availability is during each week. Of course, if anyone else wants to join our Reading Recruits, that would be fantastic, however, this does need to be a weekly commitment which could be a morning or an afternoon each week.

Due to Covid-19, there will be slight changes as you will only be able to hear readers from within your child’s class. You will be required to wear a face mask and will be sat in a designated area to hear them read. I hope that you agree that this is really important to support the children with their reading progress.

Please let the office (office@barming.kent.sch.uk) know by Monday 26th April 2021 as we want to start this within the next couple of weeks upon receipt of a satisfactory DBS certificate application by the school.

    Kind Regards,

    The Barming Primary School Team

  • Water Bottles

    Mon 22 Mar 2021
    Dear Parents/Carers,

As the weather is 'hopefully' starting to improve with Spring finally springing and warmer days on the horizon, please could we remind all parents/carers to provide their children with a named water bottle for use throughout the school day. Parents/Carers may also wish to provide their child with an extra drink for lunchtime of a fruit juice carton.

  • Designs for Hope Art Competition

    Tue 16 Mar 2021

    Dear Parents/Carers,

Barming Primary have been given an amazing opportunity this term to take part in the Designs for Hope Art competition run by Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust.

The children will be producing their artwork in class this term for the opportunity to become one of two winners from our school. The winners will be chosen by the outpatient staff and the winning artwork will be displayed in their outpatient clinic areas to spread joy and hope for staff and patients alike. They will also be included in a press release by the Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust. Winners will receive goodie bags and, Covid status permitting, will be invited to go into the department to view their work on display and meet a member of their executive team.

As the competition involves sharing the full name and age of your child, and may also involve promotional photographs, could you please complete the electronic form that has been sent out to all parents/carers on ParentMail if you are happy for your child to enter the competition. The form will expire at 9am on Thursday 25th March. Please note that no child will be excluded in completing artwork in class.

    Kind Regards

  • Absence Reporting

    Mon 15 Mar 2021

    Dear Parents/Carers,

As schools are now back to face to face learning, the Government has stipulated that normal school attendance rules apply. We know all too well that children do get ill from time to time but this is just a gentle reminder that if your child is off school with an illness or for any other reason, you need to let us know, on the day, and before 9.30am.

If we don't hear from you, your child's absence will be unfortunately have to be marked as 'Unauthorised'. If a child accrues 5 or more 'Unauthorised' days of absence in a 100 day period, the Local Authority can issue Parents/Carers with a Fixed Penalty Notice.

Obviously we want to avoid this, so good communication with the school and children attending whenever possible is key.

Please do use the free StudyBugs app to report your child's absence or alternatively, you can email the school office: office@barming.kent.sch.uk.  We ask that absences are not reported through Class Dojo, thank you.

    Many Thanks
