  • Ice Cream Treat!

    Fri 05 Mar 2021
    Dear Parents/Carers,

All of the staff at Barming are really looking forward to welcoming the children back to school on Monday.

As a special treat, we have arranged for Steph's Ices Ice Cream van to come in to school and give all of the children a free ice cream!

Those children with a gluten intolerance/allergy will have ice cream in a tub and those that have a dairy intolerance/allergy will have a slush so that we can make sure that everyone can enjoy this treat!

Please rest assured that this will happen on different days to ensure social distancing is in place:

    Year R, 1 and 2 - Tuesday 9th March
    Year 3 and 6 - Wednesday 10th March
    Year 4 & 5 - Thursday 11th March

We hope that you all have a lovely weekend and we will see you on Monday!

    Kind Regards,
    The Barming Primary School Team
  • Hearing Screening Information

    Wed 03 Mar 2021

    Hearing Screening:

We have been asked to share this survey with you on behalf of Kent County Council who are reviewing the school entry hearing screening programme.

Children in Reception Year are offered a school entry hearing screen by the Kent School Health Service in school or clinic. This year (and also last year) the programme has been delivered differently as a result of Covid-19 and families have been given the opportunity to opt into the programme if they have concerns about their child’s hearing.

If your child is in Year 2 please complete our 10-minute survey by the 12th of March 2021, so that your views can be included in any future plans for the screening programme.

    https://surveys.kent.gov.uk/s/HearingScreenParents

Thank you for your continued support :-)

  • Still Time To Download our Christmas Songs Video!

    Wed 16 Dec 2020

    Dear Parents/Carers,

Barming & Belmont Christmas Songs 2020

It's not too late to give the gift of our Barming & Belmont Christmas Songs 2020 video for the amazing price of £5 per download.

You can download the video from Vimeo by using the link sent to all Parents/Carers. The video is not displayed on their store. Please only share this link with family and we ask that you do not share it on any social media platforms, thank you.

Please download your copy today and please convince members of your family to also download a copy, by sharing the link with grandparents, aunties and uncles etc. All money raised can be spent on buying things for the children’s education as we have missed out on so many great fundraising events this year. Please support us.

    Merry Christmas to you all.

  • Class Christmas Songs - Download NOW!

    Mon 14 Dec 2020

    Dear Parents/Carers,

Barming & Belmont Christmas Songs 2020

Thank you for being so patient while we finished/edited the Christmas songs – I won’t lie, it has been tricky to put together as we have had bubble closures and therefore had to wait for them to come back so recordings could be finalised.

Before I let you know how to download the Christmas Songs, I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr Powell for all his time, support and most of all, his flexibility.   He has done an amazing job of getting it all put together and making it look great.

Mr Powell has uploaded the performance to his Vimeo account – the video can only be accessed and purchased if you have the link that was emailed to all parents/carers.   The video is not displayed on their store.   Please only share this link with family and do not share it on any social media platforms, thank you.

The video can be downloaded for a very reasonable price of £5.   All monies come to Barming Primary School, after Vimeo has taken a little slice.   Please support your school by downloading the video.   During the current climate, we are unable to hold PTA events and are therefore unable to raise much needed funds for the school.   So far this year we have missed out on the Barming Fireworks display (our biggest money earner), many film and disco events, as well as our Christmas Fair.   Please download a copy and convince members of your family to also download a copy, by sharing the link with grandparents, aunties and uncles etc.   All money raised can be spent on buying things for the children’s education.   Please support us.

    Merry Christmas to you all.

    Kind regards

  • Barming PTA Christmas Cracker Quiz

    Wed 09 Dec 2020
Our fantastic PTA have been hit hard with not being able to hold fundraising events for the school.  So they have come up with a great way to try and raise some much needed money for us by holding a Christmas Cracker Quiz for £1 a go.  Why not ask members of your family to take part too!  Please check your ParentMail inbox for more information!
  • Positive Covid-19 Cases

    Mon 23 Nov 2020

    Dear Parents/Carers,

We have been made aware of two members within our school community who have tested positive for COVID 19. The affected bubbles (1 in Year 1 and 1 in Year 5) have already been contacted by the school and advised to self isolate for 14 days.
We know that you may find this concerning but we are continuing to monitor the situation and are working closely with Public Health England. This letter is to inform you of the current situation and provide advice on how to support your child. Please be reassured that for most people, coronavirus (COVID-19) will be a mild illness.
The small number of children who have been in close contact with the individual who has tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) have received a letter informing them that their child must stay at home for 14 days.
The school remains open and your child should continue to attend as normal if they remain well.

What to do if your child develops symptoms of COVID 19

If your child develops symptoms of COVID-19, they must not come to school and should remain at home for at least 10 days from the date when their symptoms appeared. Anyone with symptoms will be eligible for testing and this can be arranged via https://www.nhs.uk/ask-for-a-coronavirus-test or by calling 119.

All other household members who remain well, must stay at home and not leave the house for 14 days. This includes anyone in your ‘Support Bubble’.

Further information is available at: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/covid-19-stay-at-home-guidance/stay-at-home-guidance-for-households-with-possible-coronavirus-covid-19-infection

The 14-day period starts from the day when the first person in the house became ill.

Household members should not go to work, school or public areas and exercise should be taken within the home.

If you require help with buying groceries, other shopping or picking up medication, or walking a dog, you should ask friends or family. Alternatively, you can order your shopping online and medication by phone or online.

Household members staying at home for 14 days will greatly reduce the overall amount of infection the household could pass on to others in the community

If you are able, move any vulnerable individuals (such as the elderly and those with underlying health conditions) out of your home, to stay with friends or family for the duration of the home isolation period.

    Symptoms

The most common symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19) are recent onset of:

    • a new continuous cough
    • a high temperature
    • a loss of, or change in, your normal sense of taste or smell (anosmia)

For most people, coronavirus (COVID-19) will be a mild illness.

If your child does develop symptoms, you can seek advice from the nhs.uk website at https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/check-if-you-have-coronavirus-symptoms/. If you are concerned about your child’s symptoms, or they are worsening you can seek advice from NHS 111 at https://111.nhs.uk/ or by phoning 111.

    How to stop COVID-19 spreading

There are things you can do to help reduce the risk of you and anyone you live with getting ill with COVID-19

    Do

    • wash your hands with soap and water often – do this for at least 20 seconds
    • use hand sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available
    • wash your hands as soon as you get home
    • cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when you cough or sneeze
    • put used tissues in the bin immediately and wash your hands afterwards

    Further Information

Further information is available at https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/

    Yours sincerely

    Dear Parents/Carers,

    Wed 18 Nov 2020

    Christmas at BARMING 2020

    Christmas Cards:

The children may bring these in for children in their own class bubble only please. These will need to be quarantined… so please can children bring them in from Monday 30th November until Friday 11th December. These will then go into a box in the classroom. They will be given out the last week of school.

    Christmas Dinner:

Tuesday 8th December: EYFS and Year 1

    Wednesday 9th December: Years 2 and 3

    Thursday 10th December: Year 4 and 5

    Friday 11th December: Year 6

Friday 11th December: Christmas Jumper Day!

(The rest of the uniform to be worn as usual)

Barming Whole Christmas Carol Concert (PreSchool to Year 6):

Every class is in the process of learning a Christmas Song which they will perform. This will then be put together for you. It will hopefully be available from Monday 14th December to download at a cost of £5. This money will go straight back to the school….We really need to raise some much needed funds for the school as you all know that many events have not taken place e.g. Fireworks Night, Film Nights, Discos, Christmas Fair. Therefore we have come up with the great idea for you to have something at home that features all your children but raises money for your children! On a cheeky note, those events would have cost you much more than a fiver ;-) You can of course always donate more….

Wednesday 16th December: 9.15am Junior Christmas ZOOM Assembly with Rev Wil North

Wednesday 16th December: 9.45am Infant Christmas ZOOM Assembly with Rev Wil North

Friday 18th December: Own Clothes Day and Winter Film Afternoon
