  • Young Scientist Day

Mon 11 Mar 2019 Mr Jibb

Monday the 11th March will be Young Scientist day at Barming Primary School. All classes will be taking part in a scientific investigation. Perhaps you might like to run your own science experiment at home. Why not try to answer these questions. Remember you will have to design your own experiment including a control.

    • Does talking to plants help them to grow?
    • Can blindfolded people tell the difference
between bottled water and tap water?
    • Do objects float better in freshwater or in
      salt water?
    • Do “triple roll” toilet paper rolls really last
three times as long as regular rolls?
    • How does the temperature of water affect
the time it takes to freeze into ice cubes?

Or you can come up with your own question. Mr Jibb would love to hear your ideas.

  • Year 3 - French Fashion Show

    Fri 08 Mar 2019 Mrs A Ingram/Mrs D McLeish

Dear Parent/Carer of Year 3 children,

Next week in French, continuing with our learning on clothes, we are going to begin writing scripts for a fashion show. We would like each child to bring in one complete outfit that they can write about in their script, ready to then hold our fashion show the following week (Friday 22ndMarch).

The outfit they bring in needs to be suitable for school and the current weather. Please can they bring this, in a clearly named carrier bag, by Friday 15th March. It will need to be able to stay in school until 22nd March.

Thank you in advance for your support, we look forward to seeing their work.

  • Staying Safe Online Information

    Thu 28 Feb 2019
    Dear Parents/Carers,

Some of you maybe aware that there is another disturbing internet issue doing the rounds.   This one is called 'Momo' and as the children in our school are already aware of it, we held an assembly yesterday for KS2 children (Years 3 to 6).   We covered the following aspects:

    1) Reminded children of Internet Safety and what to do if they see anything which is worrying or disturbing - TELL AN ADULT!
    2) How useful the Internet is and its importance within our everyday lives.

KS1 will be having an assembly to discuss this at their level which will be led by Miss Rootes.

In our HoS Newsletter dated 23rd March 2018, we included the following on Internet Safety:

'As we know our children are subjected to a vast amount of information and have the ability to connect to the cyber world on a variety of gadgets.  We cannot protect our children from undesirable material all of the time and subsequently by telling them they can't do or shouldn't do something often leads to them doing it!

Therefore, please remind your children that if they come across anything that is unpleasant or undesirable online, they need to inform an adult and that they will not get into any trouble.  I know it is difficult to stay calm and not say "Why did you do that?", however, it is more important that our children know that it is safe for them to tell us something if it goes wrong.'

The safeguarding of your children is paramount to us and we really appreciate your help and support of the school in ensuring the safety and wellbeing of the children.

    Thank you
