  • What should I do if my child has a temperature and/or a cough?

    Wed 18 Mar 2020
Please DO NOT take your child to A&E unless your child is struggling to breathe.   This is against Government advice and is not being advised by the school.  Please go online to gov.uk or 111 Online for all advice and procedures regarding the Coronavirus.  Thank you very much for working with as as you understand hospitals are under extreme pressure and we need to support them in whichever way we can.
  • No News Is Good News

    Wed 18 Mar 2020
We just wanted to assure our parents/carers that as soon as we have any developments regarding school closures etc, we will place this on the scrolling banner on the school's 'Home Page' like we do for any other closures.
  • Studybugs

    Wed 18 Mar 2020
The office is currently being inundated with calls and we are calling on all parents/carers to download Studybugs to report their child's absence.  This is free to download on all platforms and is simple to use.  Please be as specific as possible when reporting your child's absence, noting whether you are self-isolating due to a family member having symptoms or as a precaution.  We also ask that you report all absences before 9.30am so that the school can have an accurate absence picture.  Thank you.
  • Home Learning Packs

    Wed 18 Mar 2020

Home Learning Packs will be coming home with your children this week. Please do not start doing these just yet. They are for 'if' we close. Apart from Year 6... sorry your packs are part of your homework.

If you want to do a little something... Look on your Class Pages.... There are lots of 'Home Learning Opportunities' on there.

    Thank you

  • Coronavirus Update - COVID-19

    Fri 13 Mar 2020

    Dear Parents/Carers,

Following the government’s COBRA meeting yesterday the current advice is schools should remain open.   If you would like to understand the detail behind this decision please watch the following link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A0chs7bVQ8Y.

The advice from the Government is if you have a continuous cough, high temperature (37.8 or higher) and/or flu like symptoms you must self-isolate for a minimum of 7 days.

If any child in School, develops a temperature, displays a persistent hacking cough and/or is displaying flu like symptoms we will ring the parent/carer and ask for the child to be collected from school.   If you’ve recently changed your contact details, please inform the school office as soon as possible.  Come and collect your child straight away, if we ask you to (we’ll contact you if they become ill with either a temperature or a new, continuous cough).

If your child(ren) are well, they should be coming in to school.   If you are in doubt look on the NHS 111 website for advice or ring 111.   If you are concerned that another person living in your household has suspected Coronavirus use the NHS 111 online if at all possible before calling 111.

Any member of staff reporting flu like symptoms, a temperature and/or a persistent cough will also be self-isolating for a minimum of 7 days. This could put the school teaching teams under considerable strain as we try to cover all lessons and pupil support actions.  Please bear with us, should his happen.

As a school, we will provide homework and learning packs/online learning for your children should we have to close in the coming weeks.

Talk to your children about the coronavirus.   It’s a scary time and we should make sure children feel supported.   BBC Newsround has regular updates for younger children and YoungMinds has practical steps older children can take to help with anxiety

I would like to thank you all in advance for being so supportive and understanding over this.

    Best wishes

    Mr C Laker
