Dear Parents and Carers,
World Book Day - Thursday 2nd March 2023
World Book Day is fast approaching and we are looking forward to celebrating all things, ‘bookish’ on Thursday 2nd March with our theme for this year being Traditional Tales (with a twist!).
This year we have made the decision NOT to dress up as we already have BREAK THE RULES DAY on the Friday 3rd March!
The children will still have opportunity to enjoy many of the activities that we have enjoyed on previous book days. For example, the book token design competition, listening to live lessons from authors or illustrators, our buddy afternoons with other year groups and an opportunity to visit other teachers who will share stories with us.
We will be celebrating, 'Traditional Tales' this year and to help develop our oracy skills, we will be focusing on drama activities throughout the day as well as creating artwork that support the tales that different year groups will be reading. It should make for an exciting and enjoyable day for our children!
The World Book Day £1 tokens will be sent home via the children next week and can be used in one of two ways:
Thank you for your support. We hope your children enjoy World Book Day 2023!
Kind Regards,
The Barming Primary School Team

Dear Parents and Carers,
On Tuesday 7th February, Barming Primary School will be joining schools and youth organisations across the UK in celebrating Safer Internet Day 2023. We will be joining over 170 countries and over half of the children in the UK in celebrating this day. This will be the 20th year Safer Internet Day has been celebrated.
Safer Internet Day is a global campaign to promote the safe and responsible use of technology, which calls on children and young people, parents, carers, teachers, social workers, law enforcement, companies, policymakers and more, to help to create a better internet.
Using the internet safely and positively is a key message that we promote in our school, and celebrating Safer Internet Day is a great opportunity for us to re-emphasise the online safety messages we deliver throughout the year.
The theme of this year’s Safer Internet Day is ‘Want to talk about it? Making space for conversations about life online’.
In school we will be having an assembly for both Key Stages, focusing on how we use and enjoy the internet and what to do if things go wrong. For the children the key message will be to talk to someone about it; this can be any adult in school or someone at home.
Following this the children will carry out activities in class which will re-emphasise this message.
We would be delighted if you could join us in celebrating the day by continuing the conversation at home. To help you with this, the UK Safer Internet Centre have created some free activities and information for parents and carers which are available at: https://saferinternet.org.uk/guide-and-resource/parents-and-carers
Whether you have 5 minutes to start a conversation or hours to spare, there are top tips, quizzes and films which you can use at home with your child.
Please discuss this important element of your children’s learning at home. Safer Internet Day 2023 can be a springboard for conversations that shape how we talk about and respond to online issues, not just for one day, but throughout the whole year.
If you have any concerns or questions about keeping your child safe online, please do get in touch with your child’s class teacher/myself or one of our Designated Safeguarding Leads.
Kind regards,
Mr P. Hale
