Healthy School Reminders

Breaktime Snack

We have noticed a growing number of children taking out part of their lunch to have at break time. As we are a 'Healthy School' KS1 and Reception children are provided with a piece of fruit or vegetable to eat at break time by Kent.

Snacks that are allowed:

Cheese - cheese string, babybel, little cheddar blocks etc

Fruit - apples, grapes (preferable cut up), pear, bananas, raisins, cucumber, tomatoes, peppers etc - These includes dried fruits but not chocolate covered - yoghurt covered is fine.

Vegetables - carrots, beans

Snacks that are not allowed:

Crisps

Chocolate

Cereal bars (these are difficult to police due to so many different varieties)

Anything heavily processed such as winders, fruit jellies - with high sugar content.

Lunchtime Packed Lunches

We have also noticed that chocolate bars and sweets are in some lunch boxes and again as part of 'Healthy Schools' we would ask that you keep them at home for after school or for a treat. A small chocolate biscuit is fine.

A few children have begun bringing in fizzy, carbonated drinks and also energy drinks such as 'PRIME'.  This is completely against our Healthy School ethos.  Please do not bring these in. Thank you.

Water Bottles

Just a reminder, water bottles in the classroom should contain water or weak squash. You may also wish to send your child in with a carton or a bottle with squash in for lunchtime.

Lunchtimes

We continue to work hard to improve lunchtimes at Barming Pre-School and Primary School in order to make the experience a more positive one for the children and staff. We want to ensure children have a good quality lunch break with time to talk to their friends, digest their food properly and play in the fresh air.
