    Secondary School Information and Kent Test Information

    Kent Test 

    Update: Registration for the Kent Test closed on 1 July 2026 and results will be sent out to parents on 15 October 2026.

    Children currently in Year 5 who were born between 1 September 2015 and 31 August 2016 can take the Kent Test in 2026.

    Registration is open to parents of children resident in England (not including Crown Dependencies for example Jersey, Guernsey, Isle of Man), and the children of UK service personnel with a confirmed posting to the UK and Crown Servants returning from overseas to the UK, who will transfer to secondary school in 2027.

    Secondary School Admissions

    You must apply for a secondary school place for your child to start year 7 at secondary school. You will need to do this when your child is in year 6 at primary school. 

    Applications are currently open and you must apply by Monday 2 November 2026.

    Getting ready for Secondary School

    Family Transition Tips:

    • Look at the Secondary School webpage and familiarise yourself with uniform, policies and practices.
    • If you have any questions, contact the school via their 'Contact Us' form.
    • Try to find ways to become more independent – put away your own clothes, make your own sandwiches and help out with any jobs around the house.
    • Find out who else is going to the same school as you and start to form some friendships with them.
    • Plan your journey to school. Think about how you will get there. Can you practise it?
    • Start thinking about how your daily routine might look. What time will you get up? What will you have to remember each day for school? How will you complete your homework?
    • How will you eat at Secondary School? Where will you eat your packed lunch? How will you make sure you have enough money to buy your lunch each day? What will you choose to buy?
    • Think about what problems you might face and how to solve them. Who can you ask for help?
    • Start to think about how you feel about leaving Primary School.
    • Remember that while you might feel apprehensive about the change it is still a positive experience so pick out the positive things about the new challenge.
