About Us

The PTA is a Parent Teacher Association; we are a registered charity which organises events throughout the year to raise money for the school. Our PTA brings parents, carers and members of the school community together to create enjoyable, inclusive events for the children and raise vital funds to support the school. Everything we achieve is made possible by volunteers, and we are incredibly grateful to everyone who gives their time, shares ideas, attends events or supports our fundraising.

 

Money is spent in a wide variety of ways to improve and enhance the education of our children at Barming Pre-School and Primary School. The PTA is not just a fundraising body, it also brings parents, teachers and pupils together in social events, building a stronger community.

We need your help

The success of the PTA depends entirely on volunteers, many of whom balance work, family life and other commitments. We urgently need more people to help throughout the year, so whether you can spare a few hours at an event, help with preparations, contribute a particular skill or join the committee, every offer of support, however small, makes a real difference. 

You do not need to make a regular or long-term commitment. There are many ways to get involved, including:

• Helping to set up, run or clear away after an event

• Supporting refreshments, stalls, games or ticket sales

• Packing or lifting a bag or a box, or just making the tea for everyone

• Sharing contacts, resources, ideas or professional skills

• Joining the PTA or attending meetings to help shape future activities

Ways to also help with little effort

Easy Fundraising - You can help raise funds for our school every time you shop online by using the Easy fundraising app, download it here: Barming School PTA - Maidstone Fundraising | Easyfundraising. Thousands of retailers will donate a percentage of your purchase to the PTA at no additional cost to you. Just download the app, enable donation reminders, and then carry on shopping. Just hit the yellow “Tap to Get Donation” button every time you land on one of the thousands of websites who are signed up to support us. 

Match Funding – If you or a family member within our school community works for a company who match funds (see a generic list here Match-Funding-Company-List.pdf) you can raise money through employers' charitable giving schemes, where companies match the funds raised at PTA events. If your employer offers match funding, please let us know as it can make a huge difference to the money we raise for our children with next to no effort from you.

Questions and feedback

For questions about PTA events, volunteering or fundraising, please contact the PTA directly at barmingschoolpta@hotmail.co.uk. Teachers and school staff will not be able to answer questions about activities organised by the PTA.

We try to include as much information as possible in our event communications, but we understand that families may have specific questions or circumstances.

We also welcome constructive feedback and will respond as soon as our volunteer capacity allows.
