Year One

OUR MUSIC LEARNING

This Music page will showcase all our Music learning

for Year 1.

Take a look :-)

Term 1 - 2020 to 2021

Week 1 - WALT: use my voice to speak, sing and chant.

We looked at learning songs together and finding a rhythm. We really enjoyed listening to the  Boom Chikka Boom song and had so much fun learning the lyrics and practising the actions!

Week 2 - WALT: join in with familiar songs.

We can sing the 'Hokey Cokey' familiar song and we had fun singing it slowly at first. We enjoyed learning the actions and singing faster as we learnt the lyrics!

Week 3 - WALT: sing with expression and from memory.

We looked at the lyrics of the song ‘I do like to be beside the seaside’.  We discussed the words 'prom,' 'glee' and 'brass' and worked out their meanings using the words around them. We could tell the song was written a long time ago and really enjoyed learning the lyrics this week!

Week 4 - WALT: sing from memory.

We looked at the lyrics of the song, ‘I do like to be beside the seaside’ and tested our memories! We then practised singing the song, taking it in turns, singing loudly, quietly and in rounds. It was great fun! Have a go yourself...

Week 5

WALT: use my voice to speak, sing and chant.

We looked at the lyrics to the seaside song and discussed what sounds we might hear near the coast. We have been learning about using our senses in Science and discussed what we might taste, feel, hear, smell and see at the beach! The children came up with some brilliant ideas and used their voices to demonstrate different sounds!

Term 2 - 2020 to 2021

Week 1 - WALT: sing a song from memory.

This week in music we enjoyed learning a song from the film 'Pinocchio' We watched a clip of Pinocchio performing 'I've got no strings'. We then learnt the song together, creating our own actions.

Week 2 - WALT: sing a song from memory.

This week in music we enjoyed learning a song from the film 'Toy Story'. We learnt the song together, creating our own actions.

Week 3 - WALT: identify instruments.

This week in music we enjoyed listening to our Christmas Class song - 'Pick a Christmas Cracker!' We had a go at identifying instruments and enjoyed the tune.

Week 4 - WALT: remember lyrics off by heart.

This week in music we enjoyed listening to our Christmas Class song - 'Pick a Christmas Cracker!' We had a go at learning the lyrics and managed to remember the chorus! Well done Kanzi Class!

Week 5 - WALT: use actions alongside lyrics

This week in music we enjoyed listening to our Christmas Class song - 'Pick a Christmas Cracker!' We have now learnt the lyrics to the chorus and verse 1 so we worked together to create actions alongside the music. We had fun practising these actions - they even helped us remember the words!
