Term 6
Culture – is old better? Is history our future?
2021 to 2022
In Term 6 we will be reading The Boy at the Back of the Class, a child's perspective on the refugee crisis, highlighting the importance of friendship and kindness in a world that doesn't always make sense. We will be looking at the development of characters through action, description and dialogue, persuasive writing and constructive arguments. We will also be ensuring that we embed the important elements of writing such as capital letters, punctuation, spelling and cohesion.
In Maths this term we will be looking at place value, addition and subtraction, fractions, mass, volume and capacity and the area and volume of shapes. We will also be ensuring the children have embedded their knowledge of times tables. We recommend that all children are using TT Rock stars on a regular basis.
In Science this Term we will be continuing to look at animals including humans and being able to describe the changes as humans develop from birth to old age.
We will be taking cookery this term to link with our topic of Culture - Is history our future? We will be looking at two different recipes and discussing how ingredients have changed over time.
In Music, we will be discussing musical theatre, learning how singing, acting and dancing can be combined to give an overall performance.
Our P.E lessons will be on Wednesday and Thursday and will cover athletics and rounders. Please come to school dressed in your PE kit which should be weather appropriate and meet the school uniform policy.
