Term 5 Rivers, Coasts and Water

Term 5 2021-2022

Welcome back to Term 5!  We hope you are rested after the Easter break and ready to start a busy Term 5.

In English, we will be starting our new novel - Kensuke’s Kingdom by Michael Morpurgo.  We will be adding pages to our own ship’s log, writing newspaper articles, diary entries, letters and messages in bottles.  Whilst writing we will be concentrating on using different sentence structures, using ambitious vocabulary and using a range of punctuation in our writing.

In maths, we will be revising key areas that we have identified as a result of our last round of assessments in Term 4. We will continue to develop our arithmetic skills in particular working with decimal numbers, fractions and will make sure we are secure with long division and multiplication.  For reasoning, we will continue to work on our explanations using diagrams or examples of calculations to demonstrate our understanding further.

In science, we will be learning all about light and in geography we will be learning about rivers and coasts and identifying key features of rivers and associated vocabulary.

PE days will remain Mondays and Thursdays for Term 5 and we will be developing our athletics and cricket skills.
