Barming Primary School is a 2 form entry primary school on the outskirts of Maidstone. It is a co-educational school for children aged 4 to 11 years old. There are currently 414 children on roll.

Term 4 Egypt Discoveries and Legacies

Topic Title: Egypt- Discoveries and Legacies

 

This term we will be learning all about Ancient Egypt, including discovering hieroglyphics and mummification! We will continue to look at plants within Science and carrying out further investigations. We will also be learning about different types of bread, fitness and athletic skills and adapting to new situations.

 

English

We will be starting by sharing Elmer and Wilbur, before transporting the story for our own versions in Egypt. After that, we will be writing a persuasive letter and newspaper articles using Flat Stanley – The great Egyptian Grave Robbery. We will also enjoy World Book Day and share the story of Romeo and Juliet.

 

Maths

In Maths we will begin by returning to multiplication and division, building up our knowledge of the multiplication and division facts for the 3,4,5,8 and 10 times tables. We will also move on to multiplying and dividing using two digit and one digit numbers. We will then move onto measures, adding and subtracting using metres, centimetres and metres, before using that information to calculate perimeters of simple shapes.

 

P.E

If your child is attending school and needs to come in wearing a P.E uniform, you will be informed via Class dojo.

 

How you can support your child’s learning at home

 

Listen to them read, ideally 10 minutes daily.

Read and spell the Year 1, 2 and Year 3, 4 words.

Read and write numbers (no reversals!) to 999.
