Term 3 Shang Dynasty

Term 3

Topic Title: Rainforests of South America

This term includes some really exciting topics that we will hopefully translate well both through home learning and for those children in school. We will be learning about The Amazon Rainforest, investigating Plants in Science and recreating ‘Tiger in a Tropical Rainstorm’ by Henry Rousseau for Art.

This term we are starting with poetry, using alliteration and then feelings to create our own poems. We will then create some acrostic poetry. After that we will look at The Gingerbread Man, specifically looking at speech and adverbs. Handwriting and spelling of common exception words will also remain a focus.

We will begin the term thinking about money, using our addition and subtraction skills to add different prices together and find change from a note. We will then move on to fractions, thinking about unit and non - unit fractions and finding fractions of shapes and numbers, before spending the remainder of the term on pictograms, bar charts and tables. Please remember to continue to use Times Tables Rock Stars at home to practise the times tables.
