Term 1 When the Developers come!

Term 1

When the Developers Come!

We are looking forward to beginning the new school year and getting to know the children in our classes.  In English, we will start with a whole school English project and will base our writing and artwork on the Barnabus Project by the Fan Brothers.  Linking with our geography topic, 'When the developers come', we will read the thought-provoking  picture book, Varmints by Helen Ward and will use this to inspire our writing before moving onto setting and character descriptions based on the Literacy Shed animation, Little Freak.  In guided reading, Sunrise will begin the year reading Wonder by RJ Palacio and Russet will begin reading the wonderful Goodnight Mister Tom by Michelle Magorian.

In maths, we will be revisiting our place value knowledge for numbers up to 10 million including that of decimal numbers.  We will be practising times tables up to 12 x 12 along with corresponding division facts.  We will apply our tables knowledge to support learning around square and cube numbers and revisit associated vocabulary, for example, prime number, factor, multiples, composite numbers.

PE days for Term 1 will be Mondays (indoors) and Thursdays (outdoors).

Thank you for your support.
