Assessment Explained

Assessment Without Levels

The levels we assess children with match the National Curriculum expectations.

There are 4 categories that all assessments will fit in to:

Greater Depth - Children who are able to use and apply the year group expectations to most areas.

Expected - Children who are secure in the majority of the year group expectations.

Working Towards - Children who are becoming more confident with the year group expectations but are not yet secure in it.

Below - Children who are working at becoming secure within a lower year groups expectations.

Children will be assessed as meeting one of these categories at the end of each term.

End of Key Stage 1

At the end of Key Stage 1, children are assessed on statements based on the curriculum expectations.

End of Key Stage 1 Framework

End of Key Stage 2

At the end of Key Stage 2, children are assessed on curriculum statements but their final level in Maths and Reading is based on their National Tests results.
