Outdoor Learning

Outdoor learning is an important aspect of our work at Barming. We believe that children learn a great deal from being outdoors and engaging in 'hands on' activities. Children need to spend more time outdoors! Our outdoor learning takes place in the following ways:

  • Regular opportunities for the children to use the school grounds and the wider environment as part of their curriculum learning;
  • Forest School type activities for all children.
  • Growing areas
  • Promoting and signposting outdoor activities to parents.

Thank you Bovis Homes and the Gallagher Group

A huge thank you to Bovis Homes and the Gallagher Group who have very generously made donations to the school, ready for September.

Bovis Homes have contributed to the cost of paint so we can return the school to its former glory. This donation was pursued by Mrs Edwards and as a school we would like to say a big thank you to her for doing this for us. We can’t wait to see the results and Mr Moon is overjoyed!

The second donation from Bovis Homes was pursued by Miss Rootes towards the cost of Wild Times Woodland Adventure. This is a program similar to Forest School and will run for Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 children. The sponsorship money was for £3000 which is sufficient to allow for sessions on the school site led by Wild Times Woodland Adventure. Thank you to Miss Rootes for her efforts in securing this funding.

The Gallagher Group have also made a very generous donation of £8000 to the school to enable all our junior children to now take part and provide some training for staff. Our long term goal is to make this sustainable and embed this throughout the school. We would like to thank Mrs Robins and Miss Rootes for securing this funding. This will make such a difference to the children!

Some parents have suggested paying for this to enable it to continue. This is something we are investigating further and will let you know costs as soon as possible, if this viable.
